Terms & Conditions
Last updated: [25 07 2026]
These Terms apply to services provided by Julie Horton via juliehorton.com.
1. Nature of the service
I provide one-to-one psychological support and skills training for people living with persistent pain, integrating Pain Reprocessing Therapy, ACT, CBT, and clinical hypnosis where appropriate, delivered through The Pain Matrix Programme.
This work supports wellbeing and coping. I do not diagnose medical conditions and I do not replace medical care. If you are under the care of a GP, consultant, or physio, this work is designed to complement that care.
2. Suitability and informed choice
The programme begins with a free 20-minute introductory call, with no obligation, followed by a 90-minute assessment and first session. This standalone session allows us to agree whether the work feels appropriate for you before you commit to anything further. You remain in control throughout and can ask questions, pause, or stop at any time.
If I believe you would be better supported by another service (for example medical, emergency, or specialist mental health services), I will tell you and, where possible, suggest next steps.
3. Appointments and attendance
Sessions are delivered online (unless otherwise agreed). Please attend from a private, quiet space where you can speak freely and safely.
If you are running late, we will use the remaining session time. The session fee remains the same.
4. Fees and payment
The initial assessment and first session is 90 minutes and costs £120. This is a standalone session, and you are under no obligation to continue beyond it.
If we agree to continue, that assessment counts as session one of the eight-session Pain Matrix Programme. The remaining seven sessions are £80 each, payable no later than 24 hours in advance of each session. This means you are never committed to more than one session at a time, and the programme is designed to be completed for a total of £680.
5. Cancellations and rescheduling
I understand that life happens. I ask for as much notice as possible, ideally at least 48 hours, as your appointment time is held specifically for you and may otherwise have been offered to someone else.
If a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, a 50% cancellation fee may apply. Genuine emergencies are, of course, a different matter, and I will always try to be fair and reasonable.
6. Between-session contact
You’re welcome to contact me between sessions with brief questions or concerns related to the work (for example a clarification about a practice). I’ll respond when I can within working hours.
If something comes up that would be better supported in a session, I’ll suggest bringing it to our next appointment (or booking an additional session). This service is not designed to provide urgent or crisis support by message.
If you need urgent help, contact NHS 111 / 999, your GP, or your local crisis team.
7. Confidentiality and its limits
Your privacy matters. What you share is treated as confidential, except where I have a legal or ethical duty to act, for example:
- Serious risk of harm to you or someone else
- Safeguarding concerns (children or vulnerable adults)
- A court order requiring disclosure
If possible, I will discuss this with you before taking action.
8. Records and data protection
I keep brief records to support safe and effective work. For details of how your information is handled, please see the Privacy Policy.
9. Boundaries and respectful conduct
This work is professional and collaborative. I aim to provide a respectful, non-judgemental space. I also ask that communication and behaviour remain respectful.
I may end a session or discontinue work if boundaries are repeatedly breached, sessions are repeatedly missed without notice, or if I believe continuing is not clinically appropriate or safe. If that happens, I will explain my reasons as clearly and respectfully as possible.
10. Outcomes and no guarantees
Everyone is different. While many people experience meaningful improvements, results cannot be guaranteed. Progress depends on many factors, including your individual situation and engagement with practice between sessions.
11. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. The version published on this website is the current version.
