These Terms apply to services provided by Julie Horton via juliehorton.com.

1. Nature of the service

I provide one-to-one psychological support and skills training (including Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy / HypnoCBT®, ACT-informed strategies, mindfulness-based approaches, somatic tracking, and clinical hypnosis where appropriate).

This work supports wellbeing and coping. I do not diagnose medical conditions and I do not replace medical care. If you are under the care of a GP/consultant/physio, this work is designed to complement that care.

2. Suitability and informed choice

Before we begin, we will agree the focus of the work and whether it feels appropriate for you. You remain in control throughout and can ask questions, pause, or stop at any time.

If I believe you would be better supported by another service (for example medical, emergency, or specialist mental health services), I will tell you and, where possible, suggest next steps.

3. Appointments and attendance

Sessions are delivered online (unless otherwise agreed). Please attend from a private, quiet space where you can speak freely and safely.

If you are running late, we will use the remaining session time. The session fee remains the same.

4. Fees and payment

Current fees are shown on the Pricing page.

Payment is due in advance of each session (unless we agree otherwise in writing). Many people choose to book an initial block (for example six sessions) to hold continuity, but payment can be made session-by-session — typically at the time of booking the next appointment.

5. Cancellations and rescheduling

I understand that plans change. The following cancellation policy helps protect time reserved for you:

  • More than 24 hours’ notice: you can reschedule without charge.
  • Less than 24 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee is payable.
  • Non-attendance (no-show): the full session fee is payable.

If you need to cancel due to sudden illness or an emergency, please let me know as soon as possible. I will always aim to be fair.

6. Between-session contact

You’re welcome to contact me between sessions with brief questions or concerns related to the work (for example a clarification about a practice). I’ll respond when I can within working hours.

If something comes up that would be better supported in a session, I’ll suggest bringing it to our next appointment (or booking an additional session). This service is not designed to provide urgent or crisis support by message.

If you need urgent help, contact NHS 111 / 999, your GP, or your local crisis team.

7. Confidentiality and its limits

Your privacy matters. What you share is treated as confidential, except where I have a legal or ethical duty to act, for example:

  • serious risk of harm to you or someone else
  • safeguarding concerns (children or vulnerable adults)
  • a court order requiring disclosure

If possible, I will discuss this with you before taking action.

8. Records and data protection

I keep brief records to support safe and effective work. For details of how your information is handled, please see the Privacy Policy.

9. Boundaries and respectful conduct

This work is professional and collaborative. I aim to provide a respectful, non-judgemental space. I also ask that communication and behaviour remain respectful.

I may end a session or discontinue work if boundaries are repeatedly breached, sessions are repeatedly missed without notice, or if I believe continuing is not clinically appropriate or safe. If that happens, I will explain my reasons as clearly and respectfully as possible.

10. Outcomes and no guarantees

Everyone is different. While many people experience meaningful improvements, results cannot be guaranteed. Progress depends on many factors, including your individual situation and engagement with practice between sessions.

11. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. The version published on this website is the current version.
